i'm not an addict
Mar. 6th, 2006 01:14 amJust because I have approximately thirteen feet of dictionaries doesn't mean I can't quit whenever I want to...
Oh, yummy, satisfying dictionaries!
Disturbances in the neighborhood have kept me up past my bedtime twice this weekend; last night a house caught fire across the alley from me- firetrucks were outside my windows doing their civic but noisy duty. (also- fire!) Tonight, a helicopter circled for over 40 minutes, with a searchlight on some unspecified part of adams morgan. I can't sleep when helicopters circle- I keep listening for changes in engine noise, teasing out the mechanical chorus. I inexplicably worry that one will just crash down on top of me.
Dined tonight at 100 King, an upscale venture from the Lebanese Taverna Group in alexandria... sadly, save for the cheeses, there wasn't much to write home about. Service was unctuous, the space is sterile, the prices are significant ($35 head, no wine), and the menu is boringly mainstream and blandly executed. The fresh labneh with lavender honey was outstanding, though. As was my company! ;-)
Saw The Vagina Monologues, finally, with the lovely and talented
entropicalia in the cast- I'd loved the Monologues when I read them but it really is good to see them performed, and for such a good cause. Still, though, it's really hard to maintain composure for some of them. Still seeking equanamity...
