insidious headaches
Feb. 9th, 2007 01:55 pmThey're sneaky, and subtle. For the most part I'll feel fine- not *overtly* sick or in pain. But I'll be off. I'll go straight when I want to turn left, and won't notice for half a mile. I'll drop something someone handed me in a snowbank, and look for it for 20 minutes. I'll jack the car from the wrong spot so the car lifts up and decides to rest on its rotor.
Eventually, the vise tightens enough so that the pain is noticeable. And so I start trying things without even thinking. I'll eat some food. No change? maybe something sugary. Then caffeine. Then salt. Vitamin C. More sugar. Fruit. I'll feel sluggish and woozy and I can't rub more than two brain cells together.
My cheekbones hurt. The top of my head hurts. The area behind the ears. Not sharp pain. Just enough to drown out everything else, like bad muzak just a little too loud.
And it happens every few days. No wonder I can't focus for shit.
