Jul. 5th, 2008 08:47 amScallops wrapped in bacon. Gougeres. Profiterole ice cream sandwiches. Tomato Tarte Tatin. Dates filled with mascarpone. Cheese and Thyme crackers that took too much time to make. Sheeps-milk ricotta gnudi, in sage brown butter.
The farmers market bacon, while lovely, took too long to cook in relation to the scallops. The storebought bacon was bland and ucky. The gnudi was the best, pillowy and cheesy and happy. The tomato tarte was tasty, but I think I liked eating the cheese stuck to the pan better than the tarte itself!
Ebeth made awesome airy and moist cupcakes; in a generous settlement I allowed Dave to take many home.
Dave made spoon bread. Yummy spoonbread!
The fireworks, especially the illegal fireworks being set off Right On the Sidewalk Below, were full of win.
