The saga of the ticket did not end last week, it seems. I got a note in the mail from the DC DMV, informing me that my license was suspended as of today if I did not send them proof that I had settled my ticket. Thanks, DC.
So I gathered up my receipts and girded myself for the coming ordeal: visiting 301 C Street, Driver Improvement Office. (Sounds positively Orwellian, doesn't it?)
I am amazed just how many people manage to go to the DMV without ID. It's the DMV! The first thing they do is demand your ID. Then they demand money. Many people did not have that, either. An hour and a half of such entertainment went by in unairconditioned comfort. Eventually though, I got to hand over my ID and court receipt, and in return got a printout informing me that my license is no longer due to be suspended. At least I did not have to hand over $98 (NO CASH!!!- Check, money order, mastercard, visa, or discover ONLY!!).
Still, good thing class was canceled today.
I think I nap now.
