http://scienceblogs.com/neurophilosophy — I had been looking for an easy-to-reference link regarding a clip I'd seen on TV; parasitic fungal infections that control their hosts' brain, kill them, and then emerge victorious like some alien thing. I found what I was looking for, but the blog itself is very cool. original article here: neurophilosophy.wordpress.com/2006/11/20/brainwashed-by-a-parasite

http://www.redfin.com — One of the best interfaces I've ever encountered for searching for real estate.

http://glutenfreegirl.blogspot.com/ — I'd been looking for a risotto recipe. Which I found, but the prose surrounding it wasn't bad at all. And hey, recipes! http://glutenfreegirl.blogspot.com/2005/08/risotto-without-trappings-of-luxury.html

Bacon Bourbon Brownies, who could resist? http://www.slashfood.com/2008/12/22/bacon-bourbon-brownies/ I'm not sure how I feel about the concept of slashfood, though.

http://www.posterous.com/ — It was a bit of a wander. I was looking for references to L'amateur de cuisine by Jean-Philippe Derenne. It's a masterwork of a (cook)book, written obsessively and encyclopedically by ... a professor of pulmonary medicine? No matter. It's got about 500 pages discussing every ingredient one might find or use, and then about 500 pages of recipes. And no one has translated it! The French hate us, is all I can conclude. They translate his textbooks, but keep the food to themselves. So now I am sitting with babelfish and other translators open, on about page four. So much for my years of french. But what about the blog site, you might be wondering? Well, someone mentioned the book on their blog, and I wondered to myself, what is this blogging framework? It's rather attractive. It's a newish SF startup, with the concept... blog by email. I think I like the idea, but I don't know for sure. It's very pretty. Check it out.
