I discovered the other day that the reason I've not been able to find the elusively tasty pork buns Dave's mama used to serve me is because they are in fact *Taiwanese* pork buns, not Chinese.
So I sat down today to a tasty lunch of tea-soaked eggs and pork buns. Proper ones. Thank god for Ten-Ren.
Which got me musing on the fluctuations of food. I like Burmese samosas better than South Indian ones. I prefer Syrian falafel to Israeli falafel. But I like Jordanian rice pudding better than Syrian.
I like Caribbean meat pies better than British ones. Dutch frites more than Belgian. Chinese chicken noodle soup to Campbells.
What variations on a theme do *you* prefer?
