Nick's place finally went on the market yesterday. Now we wait, I guess. In the mean time, I've finally been starting to prepare to do something about my kitchen. I've been scouring craigslist for appliances, and it seems like I will have my designer yuppie-bitch kitchen for a few pennies on the dollar. In the last few days, I've picked up a sub-zero undercounter refrigerator, a gaggenau oven, and miele gas cooktop inserts. Now I just need a full refrigerator and a range and new cabinets. I'll hopefully be getting countertops next week. I completely love craigslist.

Shit. It's like I'm accomplishing something. Now I just have to get my dad to install all of this stuff. Eep.

Besides getting the oven and the inserts yesterday (I say besides, but I fucking made it from River Rd to Ellicott City and back in rush hour traffic in under three hours, including loading oven in the truck-- a freaking miracle), I also went to the dentist. Nick was annoyed at my lack of regular dental care, and made an appointment for me so I would feel compelled to actually go.

I have to say here that I never had any problems going to the dentist until 10 years ago, when I the dentist I was seeing subjected me to "Ooops! ...you need a root canal. I don't do those." I had to drive myself to an emergency root canal across town while still numbed up and drooling, missing an important meeting, and then had to drive myself home after.

I kind of went off dentistry after that. I went to a dentist while I worked at AOL, but two months after I saw him he moved practices. Anyway. Nick's dentist is very nice and geeky, and apparently I don't actually need four more root canals or whatever else is supposed to befall someone who has slipped into a go-every-four-years plan.

Anyway. I found myself out of the chair around 1pm, and I couldn't use the truck until 3, so I decided to have lunch in Bethesda. Driving down Bethesda Ave I noticed that there was no line in front of the apple store, and a parking space appeared in front of me.

There was a little line again when I finally strolled up, but after 10 minutes or so I went in and got a phone. It's nice; much faster than the first gen. I also annoyed my boss by acquiring one offhandedly before his pre-ordered one arrived at his house. My first action was to send him a text that said "Neener." His response was "i just hope"... "you forgot"... "to sign up for"... "a text plan".

...

Also, because the cooktops were in Alexandria, Nick and I finally went to Eamonn's. Verdict: the fish is awesome. The batter is good. The fries were only ok. Still, it is a very cute place. I should go to alexandria more.
